These are a couple characters I've been playing around with for an epic story that I will likely never get around to writing- it takes place in the same turn-of-the- twentieth- century wold as some of my other characters (Mr. Milcom, the Fish Butcher, etc.).
The older woman in the picture is named Astrid Ramsee. She's evil. She's got a hypnotic (and sometimes deadly) stare and is a goddess of narcissism- she's modeled off of a goddess named Ashera or Ishtar. She is tremendously concerned with beauty and appearance (which is why I tried to emphasize the eyes a bit more). The "cathedral" behind her is a temple where all the icons and figurines are votives to her. She's trying to teach or impress the younger girl (who I haven't named quite yet) and turn her into a "devotee." That cameo necklace appears to be a gift...
I just got tired of working on this recently... I've been working on it in a very undedicated fashion for about a month, and decided to call it "done" last night. My mind is littered with lots of cool new ideas I'd like to try. So, enjoy. Hasta luego, Astrid. It's been fun.
Thanks! Well... I'll keep working on the idea behind it, but I can't stand working on this drawing anymore. I might completely redo it one day... but until then I've got other things to illustrate...
